Albert Kuiper

Albert brings with him an unprecedented amount of IT knowledge. He has experienced this world from different angles, having worked as a programme manager, as head of computing centres at the Dutch Tax Administration and he has been IT director and chief information officer (CIO).

Profile

Albert specialises mainly in the business side of IT. This means that he focuses on implementing the process architecture associated with new systems. These renewed process structures require people to work differently. Because of his expertise in the influence of IT on the business, Albert is excellent at leading this change. Moreover, such a leadership role is not new to him. At 32, he was already in charge of a team of 1,400 people, which he himself describes as an incredibly enjoyable and instructive period.

Another example of where Albert brings his expertise in IT to bear is when considering the extent to which systems should be standardised or customised to suit each individual's needs.Besides the content issue, this again involves a piece of change management and people management, as he has to properly justify these choices and get people moving in the same direction.

"A system implementation is of course a technical implementation. But to ensure that you inform people properly, that they accept it and then internalise the new processes so that it becomes a new routine, that is actually a mental implementation. Precisely because you include this process and human side, an implementation is a big programme and that's where most of the focus is."

One of Albert's biggest projects was a split of the entire IT side of an organisation into six parts. Everything related to the applications, networks, databases, infrastructures, etc. became Albert's responsibility. In doing so, he devised and developed an innovative and automated way to complete this. Moreover, his focus was not only on the demerger, but also on ensuring that it was done in a sustainable way, by testing the organisations' ability to cope with the new IT through organisational readiness. This shows that Albert is trying to tackle solutions in sustainable ways, something that is perfectly in line with De Wereldverbeteraars' approach.

Albert as a World Improver

His biggest motivation to work is to add value in sectors that need it most. A number of sectors where he is keen to apply his knowledge are therefore healthcare, insurance, and (semi) government institutions. In addition, Albert has gained a lot of experience at manufacturing companies in recent years. Albert's knowledge in how IT and digitalisation can contribute to process optimisation are extremely valuable. With Albert, you are assured of experience and expertise in IT in the full sense.
